To Whom It May Concern:

Over the years, the attorneys at Ingerman & Horwitz have represented thousands of car accident victims. From accidents caused by drunk drivers, distracted drivers, and everything in between, our attorneys have seen it all. The tragic reality is that most car accidents can be prevented. Even more tragically, many of the fatalities that we have learned about were those of teenagers. When young people get behind the wheel, their lives are at stake – especially if they are engaging in risky driving behavior, such as texting or other forms of distracted driving.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 9 lives are lost each day as a result of distracted driving. Within the past 5 years, there has been a significant nationwide push to stop distracted driving. As part of the ongoing campaign to help put an end to distracted driving, and more particularly among teenagers, the attorneys at Ingerman & Horwitz have set up the “Just Drive, Maryland” scholarship.

Since 2015, the “Just Drive, Maryland” scholarship has brought more awareness to teenagers on the dangers of distracted driving. While some scholarships are academic based, this scholarship is more of a creative contest. We are asking that students submit a creative project that fully demonstrates the dangers of distracted driving. For a project to stand out from the rest, it must send a memorable message and inspire young people to put their phones down and pay attention to the road. This contest is open to all graduating high school seniors in Maryland. The 1st place winner will receive a new laptop, and the 2nd and 3rd place winners will each receive a tablet.

We encourage all Maryland high school seniors to participate in this fun, and educational, contest. Enclosed you will find information including contest rules, posters, and official entry forms. To help get the word out about this scholarship contest, we encourage you to display posters in prominent locations, notify students during announcements, as well as posting it on your school website.

Thank you for your time and participation in this scholarship contest. The attorneys at Ingerman & Horwitz want to be a part of the movement to educate young people of the dangers of distracted driving, and now is the time to get involved. Help us spread this important message! If you have any questions, please give me a call at (410) 539-1200 ext. 365.

Kind regards,
